Organic Teas

Welcome to our selection of Organic Tea. Organic teas are grown without any pesticides or growing agents on certified estates. To produce our organic white tea, the tea leaves are plucked by hand within two days between the time the first buds become fully mature and the time in which the leaf unfurls. This style of white tea is comprised of only the unopened silver tip or bud after it has been separated from the leaf. The leaves are then allowed to wither, allowing the natural moisture to evaporate before being dried. White tea contains the same antioxidants found in green tea, but since it undergoes less processing, it is believed to be healthier than other types of tea. Our Fujian Silver Needle selection is certified EU organic.

Brewing Tips: Organic Fujian Silver Needle White Tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil and then allowed to cool for just under a minute (180° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the water over the tea leaves. White tea should be steeped for 2-3 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. When brewed, white teas yield a pale, clean tasting liquor in the cup.

A relatively new offering in the mainstream United States tea marketplace, pu-erh teas are made from fermented Yunnan black tea. After picking, the tea is piled and allowed to site for lengthy periods of time, allowing a true internal fermentation of the leaf to occur. This process gives pu-erh its unique earthy overtones. This type of tea is cultivated in the world’s best tea growing areas, from tea bushes, some as tall as trees. Pu-erh has long been valued for its medicinal benefits, believed to aid in digestion and the reduction of cholesterol. Primarily packaged in compressed shapes of varying sizes, our Organic Black Pu-erh, Whole Yunnan Leaf is available in a convenient loose leaf form.

This traditional silver needle white tea, or Bai Hao Yin Zhen, is one of the most celebrated teas cultivated in China’s Fujian province. We are pleased to offer a certified Organic selection of this unique white tea, comprised of needle-shaped tea buds with silvery white down on each grey-green leaf. Made exclusively from a select picking of the plump spring budset, it has a delicately sweet flavor reminiscent of ripe melons. When brewed, the liquor is almost pale silver in the cup. We have been told by our sources that this style of white tea must be tasted at least once in a tea drinker’s lifetime.
