Welcome To Our White Tea Offering!

This tea is the rarest and most delicate type of tea. It is plucked by hand within two days between the time the first buds become fully mature and the time in which the leaf unfurls. This style of white tea is comprised of only the unopened silver tip or bud after it has been separated from the leaf. The leaves are then allowed to wither, allowing the natural moisture to evaporate before being dried.

When brewed, white teas yield a pale, clean tasting liquor in the cup. White tea contains the same antioxidants found in green tea, but since it undergoes less processing, it is believed to be healthier than other types of tea.

Brewing Tips: White tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil and then allowed to cool for just under a minute (180° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the water over the tea leaves. White tea should be steeped for 2-3 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping.

    This traditional silver needle white tea, or Bai Hao Yin Zhen, is one of the most celebrated teas cultivated in China’s Fujian province. We are pleased to offer a certified Organic selection of this unique white tea, comprised of needle-shaped tea buds with silvery white down on each grey-green leaf. Made exclusively from a select picking of the plump spring budset, it has a delicately sweet flavor reminiscent of ripe melons. When brewed, the liquor is almost pale silver in the cup. We have been told by our sources that this style of white tea must be tasted at least once in a tea drinker’s lifetime.
